I have the pleasure of interviewing my good friend of over a decade, Theresa McKeon. Theresa is a well-known public speaker as well as an expert on the TAGteach methodology. She spent 30 years as a national gymnastics coach, which led her to search for a way to speed up skill acquisition while decreasing stress and fear in the learning environment. Eventually, her findings led to the development of the TAGteach methodology.
TAGteach is an acronym for teaching with acoustic guidance. It utilizes clickers to give positive reinforcement and feedback without ever distracting the child or client. Utilizing the clicker is also a way to give unemotional reinforcement so that one student does not feel favored over another student.
If you’re completely new to TAGteach, Theresa says that the best thing you can do is to do is take an introductory course. She recommends the free TAGteach fundamentals course that can be found on TAGteach.com.
Theresa now consults and designs skill acquisition programs in multiple fields. She’s a sought after speaker in the United States and around the world and recently published her first book: Don’t Nag… Tag! Success the First Time with TAGteach. For more in-depth information and explanatory videos on the TAGteach methodology, Theresa’s ventures outside of TAGteach, and other types of presentations, you can visit TAGteach.com. Listen in as Theresa explains how she eventually became involved in the autism world, as well as the logic behind her methods.
