I’ve interviewed a lot of guests on the Turn Autism Around podcast thus far, and this next guest is one of my favorites. I’m pleased to introduce all of my listeners to Leanne Page, a certified BCBA and a mother of two lovely daughters. Today we’re talking about ABA for parents, and how positive parenting with ABA can be beneficial for children with and without autism.
Leanne’s fall into the world of autism began at Texas A & M, where she studied to become a special education teacher. She admitted that, despite taking some courses in ABA, she didn’t understand the depth of it until she met a BCBA during her career as a teacher. After finding out more about being a BCBA, Leanne fell in love with the chance to be able to make a difference in classrooms and homes. So she went back to school, took the required coursework, and became a BCBA.
Eventually, Leanne had two daughters. Both are typically developing and are not diagnosed with autism, but that’s one reason why I think you all will benefit from this interview–because Leanne is living proof that ABA methods are effective in any household, whether a family member has autism or not.
Leanne believes in ABA methods so completely that she has actually written her own book called Parenting With Science. In addition to publishing her own book, she also created and runs her own website called Parenting With ABA. You can reach Leanne through her website, linked below, and learn all about ABA for parents.
I’m so pleased that Leanne could join me and share her experiences with you. One of my missions is to spread information about ABA until it’s more commonplace, and I hope that this interview opens your eyes and makes your own life a little bit easier.
